Two long high streets, the King's Road and the Fulham Road run parallel to the river, meaning that nowhere in the neighbourhood are you ever more than a few minutes' walk from a world-class restaurant, an exciting little boutique, or an antique shop. For visitor’s, there is window shopping on Sloane Street, walking along the Chelsea Embankment and nosing around Thomas Carlyle’s old home. Foodies should head to the Farmer’s Market which takes place on Sydney Street – expect organic, hand-picked, macrobiotic-friendly items. The district contains some of the most expensive residential property in the world.
