In a sleepy corner of the Umbrian countryside sits Casale Del Cuore, a characterful farmhouse renovated in an elegant and authentic style. Dating back to the 19th century, the house features local materials, antique furniture and traditional touches throughout and enjoys beautiful views of the surrounding hills.
Inside wooden beams and stone floors meet colourful furnishings and modern comforts to create a warm and inviting space. The large kitchen has a real country house feel to it and is a real hub of the home. Both the downstairs and upstairs living rooms feature cosy armchairs and original fireplaces, making them snug and convivial places to spend time.
Five double bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms can comfortably sleep up to 10 guests. The spacious master suite even boasts its own fireplace as well as armchairs, a study area with a desk and doors to steps leading outside.
Set in lush grounds with endless greenery and sweeping views of the valley beyond, Casale Del Cuore is scenic and serene. Where better to admire everything around you than a deckchair under a shady tree or a sun lounger on the poolside terrace? A pergola-covered table by the pool is an idyllic spot for an al-fresco lunch while the porch with dining table accessible from the kitchen is perfect for enjoying evening meals.
The striking town of Orvieto with its medieval architecture and Renaissance art is just a 15-minute drive away. It’s cathedral’s gothic and mosaic façade is not to be missed. There are several cafés and restaurants serving all the usual Italian favourites, while a couple of the quaint villages on the road to Orvieto also have restaurants and shops.
Other hilltop villages and towns nearby include Civito di Bagnoregio, Sorano and Pitigliano. The historic town of Todi can be reached in under an hour and is worth a visit to explore its underground Roman tunnels.
Lago di Bolsena is a volcanic lake just a 20-minute drive from the house.
