Hikes start the moment you can drag yourself away from the villa. And the village centre with its small choice of amenities is just a few minutes' drive away. Hire bikes to explore the countryside with the family on sunny afternoons. Then return to the villa to relax and unwind in its spacious rooms and extensive grounds.
The villa has a total of seven double bedrooms, with one being adjacent to a kitchenette and living room. This, in addition to the nursery room with cot and child's bed, makes Villa Carlotta ideally suited to larger families with younger children.
And there's plenty to keep both children and adults entertained around the villa's leafy gardens. Splash around in the swimming pool, play a few sets on your private tennis court, or simply just enjoy the atmosphere of al-fresco family meals.
The glow of the drawing room fireplace is a welcome sight on chilly nights as you gather together on sofas in front of the flames. There's also an inviting feel to the formal dining room, with doors opening out into the garden where evenings can continue under the stars.
Short drives along the shores of Lake Como from Villa Carlotta uncover many pretty towns and cities. Famous Como is under an hour away, with the city full of historic buildings to admire and a waterfront promenade to enjoy leisurely walks along. There's also a funicular railway that runs up the mountainside to a picturesque village; the perfect place to take in sweeping city and lake views.
Stately villas also dot the Lake Como area and ferry services easily connect one shore to another. Take a ferry from Como over to Bellagio in around 45 minutes to visit the impressive gardens and architecture showcased at Villa Serbelloni and Villa Melzi. /n Security deposit /n €1500 charged to client’s credit card by the owner upon arrival and refunded two weeks after departure, subject to full inspection. /n Arrival time /n 3.00 p.m. - 6.00 p.m. /n Departure time /n 10.00 a.m. /n Energy costs included? /n Yes. /n Heating costs included? /n Extra €50 per night from mid-October - mid-April, payable locally. Included during all other periods. /n End of stay cleaning included? /n Extra €250, payable locally and optional extra charge of €150 for mid-stay linen change for stays of 2 weeks. However, guests are required to leave the accommodation clean, tidy and in the same condition as on their arrival.
