Canal Saint Martin
With typically French arching foot bridges over a canal that feeds into the Seine River, this district is the latest trendy area for Parisians for a stroll, coffee, drink, meal outside, or a picnic next to the canal and is situated on the right bank of the Seine. This unusually relaxed part of Paris is popular for the fashion – conscious with many quirky boutiques and famed for scenes shot for films such as Amelie and Hotel du Nord. On Sundays, two streets running parallel to the canal, Quai de Valmy and Quai de Jemmapes, are reserved for pedestrians and cyclists— many families enjoy a day out along the canal or perfect for renting a bike and seeing the city from a fresh angle. There are also the boat tours along the canal to enjoy.
