Quartier Latin

Nicknamed Quartier Latin or the Latin Quarter after its originally Latin-speaking student population at Sorbonne University, this area has a small-town feel and a boho style and is situated on the left bank of the Seine. A vibrant mix of students, artists and young professionals dominate the district and the trendy Boulevard Saint Germain. The 5ème is named for its necropolis, Panthéon, resting place to Paris celebrities such as Voltaire, Rousseau, Hugo and Zola. This district is also home to its Natural History Museum. Along Quai de Montebello are stalls with old prints and knick-knacks. Visit Rue Mouffetard for art shops or take in some jazz at one of the hang-outs on Rue Galande.

We stayed in the Larrey apartment in the 5th arrondissement. Travelling with 6 and 8 years old boys we not after fancy furnishings and the apartment was well represented by the photographs provided and was good value for money. The layout of the apartment was good and plenty of room for the 4 of us. Despite delays in he Channel tunnel and arriving at Gare du Nord late, we were still met on arrival with a minivan awaiting for our transfer. Location was fantastic with young children, close to the beautiful Jardin des Plantes with it's museums including notably the Musee Paleontologie, very close to the Place Monge metro and the place Monge market. At the end of the street was the Boulanger de Monge with fantastic baguettes and patisserie. Also very close to Rue Mouffetard with its variety of excellent restaurants. Place Monge is the same metro line as galeries Lafayette and the Louvre. Neighbours helpful too. When our taxi did not arrive as we were leaving (nb not arranged by the French experience, it will be next time) people stopped in the street to speak to us in English to direct us to local taxi ranks. We would stay in this apartment again. Nicola, Adelaide

Thanks for a great stay. Lucy, QLD

Description

If you are looking for a family or group holiday in Paris then stop! This is the apartment you are looking for. Right in the centre of the Fifth Arrondisement of Paris, between the Jardin des Plantes and the Place Monge, this rather big three bedroom flat is ideal for a family with children or a group.

The area is very safe and lively, you will find locally all the commodities one can need in Paris. The boulangerie is some10 metres away, and the market of the Place Monge is renowned (open in the morning on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday). The Jardin des Plantes is only two streets behind, and it includes the Menagerie - the oldest zoo in the world (founded in 1794) - a wonderful place for children and good place to walk. You are close to all forms of public transport (taxis, metro, buses and the famous Velib') and enjoy locally a wide range of restaurants and cafes.

The apartment is very spacious. It has three separate bedrooms, which means everyone in the family can enjoy his own room without disturbing one another. The master (or rather parents) bedroom is very large and has its own private balcony that looks on to a calm courtyard, which is ideal for a late night romantic drink or a great place for breakfast. The second room is down the corridor in front of the entrance, it has two small beds and good cupboard space. The kitchen is simple and nicely decorated with tiles. The bathroom is very practical and has a special shower head, the toilets are separate. The comfortable living room looks upon the street, as does the cosy third bedroom. Spacious and practical, this apartment is really perfect for a family or a group of friends wanting to enjoy a great holiday in Paris at a very reasonable price.

In the heart of Paris, less than half an hour away from any major cultural site, this is a real bargain and a great deal for a family holiday in Paris.
