Domme

Description

La Prairie is a detached stone house dating back to the mid-19th Century, set in open countryside, just a few minutes walk from the banks of the Dordogne river.

The owners have blended original features in the house with contemporary yet classic furnishings to create a traditional yet comfortable ambience.  The magnificent fireplace in the living room is a wonderful focal point for cooler evenings as you drink local wine with family or friends whilst four pretty bedrooms offer ample space for rest and relaxation.

Outside you are surrounded by open landscapes of Dordogne countryside. Enjoy the gentle views as you relax on the vast terraces, bathe in the sun or take a dip in the glorious swimming pool during the summer months. Table-tennis will keep kids entertained or set up a picnic on the vast lawns surrounding this delightful home.

It’s a short stroll down to the river’s edge where you can hire canoes for an unforgettable day paddling towards some of the archetypal villages along the Dordogne. Within 4km is the idyllic village of Domme, classified as one of France’s most beautiful villages, which is set high up above the Dordogne river with a fascinating cave system as well as incredible views. Just a little further, Cénac offers you all you need in terms of bakeries and supermarkets and you can even hire bikes for some wonderful adventures across the region.

Follow the river west to discover archetypal riverside spots such as La Roque Gageac, Château de Beynac or Castelnaud-la-Chapelle or head north to the unmissable town of Sarlat (10km) with its maze of medieval narrow streets, lovely squares and amazing restaurants full of gastronomic delights.
