The living space is warm, cosy and very welcoming; with the additional charm of the “tower” and its rounded aspect, exposed timber beams and flagstone tile flooring in ochre, whitewashed walls and simple, yet useful furnishings, guests will relax into the slower tempo of this laid-back home.
Understated luxury abounds, with a sign of loyalty to local and natural materials; the dining space is informal, relaxed yet chic; the dining table accommodates eight, and the wooden dresser and writing desk add a touch of character. Indoor and outdoor living blend seamlessly, as the living-dining spaces lead through large, floor-to-ceiling glass partitions into the veranda.
The kitchen retains a true farmhouse style to it; wonderfully traditional, yet spacious, with a table which is ideal for children’s snack time or relaxed breakfasts, kitted out with all the modern appliances and necessities such as Nespresso machine, juicer and top range appliances.
The bedrooms are stunning in their elegant simplicity; far from “overdone,” they imbibe the true spirit of the therapeutic aspect of this island. Adorned with beautiful antique writing desks, wooden shutters, ambient lighting and crisp, quality cotton bed linen, they make for an ideal retreat. Villa Escondida can accommodate eight guests across four double bedrooms.
The first-floor balcony offers an ideal nook to enjoy a romantic meal or a glass of evening wine as the sun softens over the hills. The bathrooms encapsulate a somewhat “hammam” Arabic feel to them, with their pretty, orientalist style tiles.
The outdoor spaces are ideally set up for al fresco dining; with ample seating space in the veranda, within the secluded and relaxed, shaded privacy of the villa, or indeed on the expansive and impeccably maintained lawns, which are a riot of bright foliage and tropical plants and palm trees.
The pool is an elegant sight; set within its terrace space, with parasols and loungers for guests to indulge - reclining with a good book, or soaking up some rays.
