On the ways of the kings, you will leave Blois after having visited its superb castle. Then you will discover the castles of Chaumont on the Loire (residence of Catherine de Médicis), Chenonceau, called the castle of the Ladies, Cheverny very close to the Sologne region and the vastest, Chambord. You will spend one night inside the castle of Chemery. This castle, dated 12th century, will transport you to a medieval environment, you will appreciate a candlelit dinner and drink wines of the Loire Valley. Appointment the day before departure, at the end of the afternoon, at Blois. You will spend the night in a hotel** any comfort, with character rooms, located very close to the castle.
The Châteaux de la Loire - Horse hike
Day 1: Breakfast at 8 o'clock. Visit of castle of Blois. Built on a headland dominating the Loire "River of the Kings" and Arrou, this place has been a strong fort since old times. Departure for the castle of Chaumont (at the end of 15th century) which evokes more volumes of the strength and romance of the old times. Pastoral lunch on the river bank. Ride to the "Castle hotel**". A warm and friendly evening. Day 2: Visit of the castle of Chaumont wild. Equestrian course along the slopes and through the forest. Pastoral lunch in the forest of Amboise. Arrival at the castle of the Herserie. You will spend the night in this charming house with a very picturesque 13 hectare park and ponds. Simple but comfortable rooms in the castle. Day 3: After a large country breakfast in this tranquil, beautiful surrounding, you will leave for another castle. After a good pastoral lunch, you will visit the castle of Chenonceau. Regarded as one of the jewels of Renaissance architecture, with its two famous and spendid "Garden of Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medicis", it floats, motionless, on peaceful Cher water. Visit of the castle. Night in a "Prestige" B&B. Day 4: Departure for Montrichard, small city located on the Cher bank, to be visited for the ruins of its old castle which is extremely well preserved, its churches and its famous "bridge over the Cher". Lunch close to the castle of Gué Péan, neslted at the end of a small road, in a quiet small valley with wooded slopes. The afternoon, ride to the castle of Chémery. You will dine and spend the night in this XIIIth and XVth centuries castle, classified historic building, within a relaxing country side environment where one can taste the stone and wood. Day 5: Breakfast, preparation of the horses then departure for a ride by the forest to the castle of Cheverny, the most magnificiently furnished of all the Châteaux of the Loire and the first one which incarnated the "Classique style". Pastoral lunch and visit of the castle. Arrival at the end of the afternoon at Bracieux, a charming small village, located at the doors of the Sologne region. Night at a hotel**. Day 6: Objective Chambord, the largest Châteaux of the Loire, sumptuous "Renaissance" Palace, creation of King François 1er, inspired by Leonard de Vinci. Lunch close to the castle stables. Visit of the castle and evening at Saint Gervais La Forêt close to Blois. Night at a hotel** in Blois. Day 7: Breakfast and end of the stay.
