Montségur a 4 days tour from Ariège to Corbières. Come to discover 3 of the most famous castles of the Cathare (Montségur, Puylaurens, Peyrepertuse) and admire the handsome land from the Pyrenees Mountains to the Mediterranean Corbières. Sunday Free visit of the castle (guide visit at 2 & 3 pm) the museum and the village. Cavalier greeting in Montségur, at the “Al pitchout parfait” cottage late afternoon. Montségur - Horse hike
Monday We'll leave the impressive Montségur castle on top of its rock in the morning and will do down toward the Pelay, we'll go through thegorges of Frau and then the forest of Comus and the Langueail plateau. We'll reach the Belvis cottage for the night. Tuesday From Belvis we'll go through the Rébenty valley, little path through the forest and arrive at Axat. In the afternoon, up on its rock, the preserved castle of Puylaurens will appear (used until the revolution). Night at Mado in the village of Puylaurens. Wednesday We'll go through Lavagnac, the Franges Forest, the high of Saint Louis, the Malabrac plateau et we'll stop at the adondoned hamlet of Campeau in the middle of the famous Aubrac cows. Night at the Bouchard cottage where we'll be welcome by Nicole and Daniel, living right in the middle of there 300 hectares hunting park where are living deers, roebucks, wild boar that we often see… From 900 meters high, the Bouchard offer us a superb panorama from the really beginning of the Galamus gorges to the highs of the Pyrenees. Thursday We keep going west. The scenery still green slowly change into vineyards. We reach the Peyrepertuse citadel also know as the “Stone vassal”, “the Vertigo Citadel” or “the Celeste Carcassonne” who was in middle age the bigger fortress of Europe. Arrival late afternoon in Cucugnan, little village who get his fame from the writer Alphonse Daudet and the story of its priest. Vehicle transfer to Montségur.
